The Civil Claim Process is where one party chooses to sue another party. Once a Civil Claim is filed the action goes through many steps to reach a resolution, and it may ultimately come before a judge for a legal decision.
Provincial Court Civil is often referred to as the “people’s court” or “small claims court”. The maximum amount that anyone may claim in Provincial Court Civil is $50,000. Any claims that cannot be heard in the Provincial Court or exceed $50,000 must be heard in the Court of Queen’s Bench.
