Colby is based out of the Calgary office where he practices primarily civil litigation. Colby grew up in the hamlet of Langdon, Alberta before completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary and law school at the University of Ottawa. After law school, he completed his articles with the federal Department of Justice, advising government agencies on legal issues related to administrative law, constitutional law, correctional law, and Crown liability. He moved back to Alberta and joined Getz, Collins as an Associate in 2021. Colby’s upbringing and experience has taught him the value of integrity, a strong work ethic, and critical thinking, all of which guide his efforts to effectively assist his clients.
Outside the office, Colby is active in the community. He has volunteered with several non-profit organizations, including Calgary Reads, SHOUT Canada, and the Ottawa Law Classic, a charity hockey game to raise funds for mental health research. He has also been a Hockey Canada referee for 13 years, officiating at the Junior A level in both Alberta and Ontario.
